Borussia Dortmund's handball ladies have made it 12 wins from 12 games in the Bundesliga. The Borussia ladies won confidently at home in the Sporthalle Wellinghofen against newly promoted HL Buchholz 08-Rosengarten, running out 39-15 (19-8) winners.

The win for the BVB ladies, who fielded six Dutch players from the outset in Tessa van Zijl, Inger Smits, Merel Freriks, Kelly Dulfer, Kelly Vollebregt and Yara ten Holte, never looked in danger against HL Buchholz 08-Rosengarten, who were promoted to the Bundesliga last season. From the very first minute, Borussia dominated the guests. After ten minutes, the Black and Yellows led 7-4 – and could have led by even more if it had not been for three misses in the early stages.

In the area, BVB goalkeeper Yara ten Holte carried on where she had left off in the Champions League match against Moscow, with one good save after another. After a held ball, the Dutch keeper set up Kelly Vollebregt with a nice pass, which Borussia's right-back caught with one hand and made no mistake to give BVB a 3-1 lead after 5 minutes. In the initial phase, BVB also repeatedly freed circle runner Merel Freriks, who reliably converted her chances against Rosengarten.

In the middle of the first half, BVB had been able to demonstrate their high-tempo game time and again after technical mistakes from the opponent and had increased their lead to 11-5 after 15 minutes. Ten minutes before half-time, coach André Fuhr brought on Dana Bleckmann and Jennifer Gutiérrez Bermejo. Borussia's Spaniard also struck to make it 13-7 after Inger Smits had released her, having put a lot of pressure on the left wing after 23 minutes. André Fuhr used the superiority of his charges to give his players plenty of breaks and continued to make substitutions. The Black and Yellows made it 19-8 by the break, but a hand injury to Yara ten Holte took some of the shine off three minutes before the whistle.

BVB continue to improve their goal difference

The second half also started with a scare, as one of the away side injured her left ankle and had to leave the court. However, BVB did not let the interruption get to them and eased to a 22-9 lead with three quick goals after 31 minutes. When energy of the guests from Rosengarten waned noticeably, the Black and Yellows took advantage and kept playing at high-speed. After 36 minutes, Tina Abdulla scored her third goal of the second half to make it 26-11.

Rinka Duijndam also stood out in goal, making good saves, while almost every throw found the back of the net at the other end. Laura van der Heijden also struck from the right-hand side to make it 28-12 to BVB after just 40 minutes. Yet the Black and Yellows did not let up and continued to work on improving their goal difference – even the many substitutions did not change the fluid play of the BVB ladies. Even Merel Freriks got her break 15 minutes before the final whistle, but Clara Monti Danielsson was only a spectator at the Wellinghofen due to concussion. Kelly Dulfer took the place of her countrywoman.

Dulfer ended the match on a high note, slotting home for a final score of 39-15. Following the comfortable Bundesliga victory, BVB will continue in the EHF Champions League next Sunday: André Fuhr and his players will take on Podravka Vegeta at 14:00 CET in the Helmut-Körnig-Halle.
