Meetings between the Black & Yellows and the Green & Whites are generally exciting affairs. No other head-to-head match-up in Bundesliga history has seen a team come back from 1-0 down to win more frequently. This has happened in 16 previous games between the two sides. Although Bremen have scored more goals than Dortmund (171 to 169), Borussia have won more games than Werder (45 to 41). Here are the match facts.

The scenario: Fifth versus 13th. Werder are hovering four points above the relegation play-off spot, while Borussia are seven points adrift from the Champions League places. BVB have lost just one of their last 12 Bundesliga games against Werder (eight wins, three draws).

Home/away: The Black & Yellows' home record is tipped just slightly on the positive side: seven wins, six losses and two draws. Bremen have picked up 17 of their 30 points this season away from home, but have only managed to win on one of their last four road trips (2-0 in Bielefeld on 10 March).

Head-to-head: BVB have won more home games in the Bundesliga against Werder (45) than against any other club. However, the only team to win more games in Dortmund other than Bayern (50) are Bremen (41). Borussia have won on 11 of the last 13 occasions they've hosted Bremen in the Bundesliga; the only defeat in this timeframe was a 2-1 loss in December 2017. The Black & Yellows have lost 11 games against Bremen after taking a 1-0 lead (more than against any other team), but they've also managed to come from behind to beat Werder on 11 separate occasions, with the last of them coming in 2016/17. Nine of the 11 penalties awarded in this fixture in Dortmund have been in favour of the home side. Marco Reus has scored more goals against Werder than any other team (14) and has notched up 22 scorer points in his 18 appearances against the Green & Whites.

Statistics: Borussia Dortmund have lost just one of their last four games in the Bundesliga, but they've already suffered more defeats this season than in the entirety of the previous campaign (ten defeats this season compared to seven last season). No other team have had fewer draws than BVB (four), while only two teams have scored more goals (58). Werder Bremen have lost each of their last four games and have only managed to keep one clean sheet across the last eight matchdays.

Biggest home win: The Westphalians have found the back of the net a total of 169 times against the Hanseatics. The most goals scored in one game was on 2 February 1980, when BVB ran out 5-0 winners thanks to goals from Wolfgang Vöge, Theo Schneider (2), Manfred Burgsmüller and Herbert Hein.
