There are six Bundesliga matches left this season. On Sunday, Borussia Dortmund will host Werder Bremen at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. The game will kick off at 15:30 CET.

The match against Manchester City was still a topic of conversation at the press conference prior to facing Werder Bremen. After all, that Champions League game had kicked off less than 48 hours earlier. BVB might have lost 2-1, but Edin Terzic nonetheless recognised "many good things that we want to carry over into our upcoming matches. We owe it to ourselves to reproduce the performances from the tie with Manchester City in our six Bundesliga matches," the coach explained. "We’re confident, but that alone will not suffice. We need to keep giving everything to achieve our aim."

The goal for the Bundesliga remains a fourth-place finish, which would secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League. BVB have six games left in order to fulfil that objective. The fifth-placed Black & Yellows are currently seven points behind Frankfurt, who sit in that coveted fourth spot. The next opponents in the Bundesliga on Sunday will be 13th-placed Werder Bremen. Werder have lost their last four league matches, but they did reach the semi-finals of the DFB Cup courtesy of a victory over Jahn Regensburg at the start of April. The reverse fixture in December – Edin Terzic’s debut as Borussia Dortmund head coach – ended as a 2-1 win for BVB. Prior to the return fixture, the tactician issued a word of warning: "Werder Bremen have frustrated us very often over the last few years, both in the Bundesliga and in the DFB Cup. We need to produce our best performance so that we leave the pitch with the three points."

Bremen are an aggressive and flexible team "that repeatedly change their formation, before their matches and during them too. Nonetheless, the focus remains on our own game. We need to keep faith in our processes." And: "We will fight to ensure that they do not frustrate us so much on this occasion."

Terzic might be able to call once again on Thomas Delaney, who had to sit out the Manchester City game with an injury. "He is completing an individual programme today and we hope that he will be able to take part in training again tomorrow, which would mean he’s an option for Sunday." Jadon Sancho will not return to the squad in time to face Bremen. He will undergo an endurance test on Saturday. The long-term injury absentees are also making progress. "Axel Witsel is doing very good. He’s completely on track with his rehab, though this season is over for him. The load is also being consistently increased for Marcel Schmelzer and Youssoufa Moukoko. Dan-Axel Zagadou still needs some rest but is also progressing according to plan."
