After Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United had already reached a general agreement on the transfer of Jadon Sancho on 1 July, both clubs have now clarified all of the contractual details with the player. This means that all relevant conditions for a transfer of the 21-year-old to the English record champions have been fulfilled. The transfer needs to now be duly finalised according to the relevant statutes laid down by both associations via FIFA TMS. BVB will then receive a fixed transfer fee of €85 million.

Having joined BVB as a 17-year-old, Sancho quickly developed into a top performer. In 136 matches for the Black and Yellows, he scored 49 goals (38 goals in 104 Bundesliga games, 5 goals in 21 UEFA Champions League games, 6 goals in 11 DFB-Pokal games), and assisted a further 63 goals across all competitions.

"It was Jadon's express desire to return to his home country and the Premier League, and his behaviour was absolutely flawless at all times. I would therefore like to thank him on behalf of everyone at BVB," said Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of Borussia Dortmund.

BVB sporting director Michael Zorc also paid tribute to Sancho's achievements: "In his four years with us, Jadon has developed greatly. Towards the end of last season in particular, he contributed to the team's success with important goals and assists. We would like to thank him for his commitment and wish him the best for his future career."

Sancho himself said goodbye to BVB and Dortmund with the following words: “I can't thank the people in charge at Borussia Dortmund enough for the chance they gave me as a very young player. At BVB I was able to mature into the player I am today. The DFB Cup win last season was a great end to my time at BVB. But I will always remember the support and love of the incredible fans as something special.”
