The BVB women have followed up their thrilling home win in their league opener with a Black & Yellow masterclass in their first Kreispokal tie: the Borussia ladies ran out 12-0 (7-0) winners against Urania Lütgendortmund to book their spot in the second round.

Dortmund boss Thomas Sulewski was understandably a happy man after the final whistle. "I'm naturally delighted with the win, but above all with the fact that many players got on the scoresheet," said the coach, who nonetheless managed to identify a "few details" that he still needs to work on with his team.

The Black & Yellows seized control right from the beginning of this game on the west side of Dortmund, with Ann-Katrin Lau and Carolin Marie Kaul straightaway making their mark on this match in front of a great crowd of approximately 500 spectators. "We took a few minutes to find our way into the match," said Sulewski of the opening stages.

But in the 09th minute Ana Zabell was on hand to slot home a cross and put her side 1-0 ahead. Zabell and Kimberly Becker subsequently had opportunities to increase the advantage but could not find the back of the net. The pressure was building, however, and in the 22nd minute Zabell curled the ball into the corner to make it 2-0 after being set up perfectly by Vanessa Heim. Marina Jung (27), Vanessa Heim (29) and Lillia Prinzen a matter of moments later made the scoreline even more clear-cut by the time the game crossed the half-hour mark.

Heim then curled home another to make it 6-0, before Lau added her name to the scoresheet on the stroke of half-time to ensure a seven-goal advantage at the interval. Both the lead and the margin of it were deserved, with the BVB women having had proceedings under control throughout and pinned Lütgendortmund back into their own half for 45 minutes. "We moved the ball about well and scored lots of goals using the wings; I was pleased with that," said Sulewski.

The throngs of BVB fans were soon celebrating the next goal within four minutes of the restart, with Lau the scorer of the eighth. Jung added a ninth on 56 minutes, but the Black & Yellows allowed the tempo to drop in the period that followed – without ever losing control of proceedings. An interruption of approximately five minutes on account of blue smoke on the pitch, which impaired visibility, also had a brief impact on the rhythm of the game.

But then Herbig reopened the floodgates by slotting home from close range in the 73rd minute to make it 10-0. Höhl then added an 11th goal in the 82nd minute, before substitute Hannah Goosmann lobbed the Urania goalie for the 12th on the 85-minute mark. Zabell then rounded off the game by thudding the ball against the crossbar, as a strong Borussia comfortably qualified for the second round of the Kreispokal.
