Borussia Dortmund have signed a long-term contract extension with youth striker Julian Rijkhoff, 18.

The Netherlands U18 international moved to BVB from Ajax in January 2021 and has since proven himself to be a prolific goalscorer. The 1.83m-tall attacker has found the net 27 times across 28 appearances in the U19 Bundesliga and finished as the top scorer in the U19 Bundesliga West as a 17-year-old in 2020/21. He is currently topping the scoring charts again with 10 goals. In the UEFA Youth League, Rijkhoff has scored seven times in 15 appearances.

"Julian has developed very positively in our youth academy and is a key component of the Netherlands U18 national team. We're happy to continue to have a centre-forward in our squad who consistently scores goals and has excellent prospects," said Lars Ricken, who is in charge of Dortmund's youth academy.

Julian Rijkhoff declared: "I'm proud to have signed a long-term contract with BVB. I feel the management's trust and will now continue to work towards my dream of being able to play for the Borussia Dortmund first team at some point."
