Borussia Dortmund have claimed their first pre-season victory in their first friendly. The Black & Yellows took on Lüner SV on Tuesday evening and beat the Westfalenliga outfit by a 3-1 (1-0) scoreline. Aning, Fink and Gürpüz scored the goals for BVB.

BVB lined up in Lünen without their internationals, who only commenced pre-season with the performance diagnostics at the weekend, and the players who are returning from injury or being managed individually. The squad was supplemented by players from the U23s and U19s, although Marco Reus, Gregor Kobel, Emre Can, Marius Wolf, Mateu Morey, Soumaila Coulibaly, Nico Schulz and Donyell Malen were among the 3,000 spectators at Stadion Schwansbell.

BVB coach Edin Terzic set out his team in a 4-1-4-1 formation. New signing Meyer made his debut in goal for BVB, although he had a quiet day at the office. As expected, the Black & Yellows dominated ball possession against the Westfalenliga side and did not give their hosts a sniff on any of their few forays forward throughout the opening half. Going forward, it was Hummels who got the first glimpse of goal for Dortmund a few minutes in but he could not get on the end of a corner. The biggest opportunity for BVB fell to forward Moukoko on the quarter-hour mark, but he fired the ball wide of the left upright from the edge of the penalty area. Three minutes later, Lünen's goalkeeper failed to get a corner under control. Hummels played the ball to Aning, who unsuccessfully went for goal with a lob. In the 28th minute, Hummels fizzed a shot at goal from distance that was blocked by an opposition player.

LSV sat deep, with BVB's final ball often their downfall in their attempts to break through. Compelling chances were few and far between in the first half. Rothe failed to connect properly with a through-ball (40), with Moukoko missing from a central position four minutes later. But Dortmund finally got the breakthrough on the half-time whistle: Moukoko won the ball back and fed Aning. The U23s' new signing fired the ball underneath the crossbar to put BVB 1-0 ahead.

BVB made three changes at the interval, with Fink, Kamara and Semic replacing Hummels, Moukoko and Njinmah. The spectators witnessed a similar story once the second half got under way, though they did not have so long to wait for a Borussia goal. Passlack lobbed the ball into the box in the 54th minute. Rothe then shot at goal and although Lünen's custodian made the save initially, Fink slotted home the loose ball for 2-0. Passlack was also involved in the next goal, which came eight minutes later. Fink won the ball back and played it through after it had been lost by Gürpüz, who continued his run into the box and left the Lünen shot-stopper with no chance from a central position: 3-0 to the Black & Yellows. Rothe almost scored the next goal with a volley in the 73rd minute, but he was denied by the goalkeeper. Instead, Lünen managed to grab a consolation goal, with Anafai's effort nestling in the back of the Dortmund net via the post. Simic missed the chance to add another goal for BVB in the 85th minute after a nice solo run.

BVB: Meyer – Passlack (Simic, 69), Collins, Hummels (Kamara, 46), Rothe – Papadopoulos – Njinmah (Semic, 46), Gürpüz (Dahoud, 69), Michel (Rijkhoff, 69), Aning (Ludwig, 76) – Moukoko (Fink, 46)
