Borussia Dortmund’s U17 has won the semi-final first leg for the German Championship by 2-0 (1-0) against RB Leipzig and this has put them in a very good position for the return leg on Sunday. Jacob Bruun Larsen and Christian Pulisic scored the goals for BVB in front of nearly 2000 spectators.

The kick-off was delayed due to traffic by 15 minutes, because amongst other things the bus with the BVB players was stuck in a traffic jam. Germany’s U17 captain Felix Passlack was also with the team, however he could not play from the start due to a calf injury.

Leipzig, the B-Juniors Bundesliga North East Champions, took control of the game at the start, but after about 20 minutes the Borussia players got into the game more and more. Christian Pulisic created the first big chance, but Jacob Bruun Larsen could only hit the inside of the post. Things went one better in the 25th minute: again Pulisic did a great job in setting up a chance and Larsen made the ball stumble into the goal to make it 1-0.

Leipzig hit the crossbar in the next move and just after that BVB goalkeeper Eike Bansen made a great save to prevent an equaliser for 1-1 (30.).

Under the watchful eye of new Head Coach Thomas Tuchel and Hans-Joachim Watzke and Michael Zorc, Passlack then came on just after half time. His first action in the game was also an immediate success: perfect cross to Pusilic and he went around the RBL keeper to make 2-0 in the 50th minute. The visitors did not have a lot to offer after that, so that the 2-0 victory was not in danger apart from one risky situation.

The second leg will be on Sunday at 11am in the Leipzig WM Arena. (pf/br)
