The unveiling of new coach Thomas Tuchel has already aroused a sense of anticipation. Despite most BVB players still being away on international duty, many fans have already begun the countdown to the start of the 2015/16 season on social media. "Day 0" is marked in the calendar as 4 July, which is when the Black and Yellows' season opening event will take place. And this year there will be a match to mark the occasion too.

"We want to be challenging in all competitions!" said Thomas Tuchel as he outlined the objectives for his first season as BVB boss. But before it gets under way, the coach and his charges are set to receive their first challenge at the club's traditional family event. It will come from a team awash with famous and top-level sportsmen - the so-called "Team Gold", a group of current and former athletes sponsored by Deutsche Sporthilfe (the German Sport Aid Foundation).

Boasting quite the medal collection between them, the illustrious team set to take to the field at Signal Iduna Park includes Olympic beach volleyball winner Jonas Reckermann, former decathlete Frank Busemann, swimming world record holder Markus Deibler and long-distance swimmer Thomas Lurz, former Four Hills Tournament winner

Sven Hannawald, Germany handball keeper Silvio Heinevetter and double luge partners Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt. The celebrity contingent also includes two Paralympic gold medal winners - skier Gerd Schönfelder and sprinter Heinrich Popow. The rest of the team will be made up by BVB fans, who will be able to win a place on the pitch by taking part in a competition run by BVB partner Unitymedia.

The match will kick off at 14:30 CET after stadium announcer Norbert Dickel has welcomed the new coaching staff and the team on the Signal Iduna Park pitch beforehand. Tickets for the first "tough test" of BVB's pre-season are available from Wednesday 10 July. They will cost between two and five Euro, with all proceeds from the event going to Deutsche Sporthilfe.

The match between Borussia Dortmund and "Team Gold" is the highlight of the BVB family event, which begins at 10am when the REWE fan village opens in car parks A7/A8 with games, fan make-up, fairground rides and a whole host of other attractions.
