In the shadow of the Ajinomoto Stadium, the venue for the 2020 summer Olympic Games, the BVB Evonik Soccer School offered  6-13 year old children the possibility to take part in a holiday course this year. From 11th to 14th August 88 children from Tokyo and the rest of Japan couldn't pass up the chance to be part of this intensive football experience.

Borrowing from the training concept of the BVB Juniors, the young talent had two training sessions a day to show their ball skills whilst dressed from head to toe, in black and yellow, of course!

The team of trainers on site consisted of four BVB coaches, who had flown in from Dortmund for the week, and a fifth coach, who lives in Tokyo the whole year round and runs the BVB football academy in Tokyo. 160 children visit the soccer school every week for football lessons.

All of the German coaches had a Japanese assistant coach, to ensure ease of communication.
Off the pitch, the young footballers also took part in exciting black and yellow activities, such as a BVB Quiz and many team building exercises.

At the end of the week the most talented player was picked out and the won the prize of a trip to the football city of Dortmund. Once there they would take part in a training session with the BVB youth team, go on a tour of the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK and, the absolute highlight of the trip, attend a BVB home match.
The course, which was supported by Evonik, Puma Japan and DFL was a big success for the 4th time and all of the participants were able to go home with a bag full of experiences and unforgettable memories.
