Thomas Tuchel sees defence as the key to today's success. "We needed to put in a brave defensive performance - so I'd like to pay my compliments to the team," he said after the 3-1 win in Mönchengladbach.

Thomas Tuchel on his team's performance:
We are obviously delighted with the victory because we know how tough it is to win in Gladbach. We played against a team who are very strong individually and which attacks in its own unique way. We needed to put in a brave defensive performance today - so I would like to pay my compliments to the team. We managed to defend very high up the pitch. After the open start to the match, we began to have more control. It was important to win the tackles in Gladbach's half today.

...on the increased efficiency shown after the break:
The counter-attacks in the first period were not precise enough, but after the break we were more dangerous. I am delighted we then got the goals, and I am also delighted about the outstanding result as well as the way in which we performed on the pitch today.

...on the substitution of Marco Reus:
He scored one goal and then did well to set up our second too. That was very important. I am very happy with how Marco has come back from the winter break. He gives a lot in each training session. It has been a delight to see how freely he has trained in the last few weeks. It was obvious that he would return to action at his absolute top level. He is just lacking match fitness now. We took him off to avoid the risk of injury.
