Borussia Dortmund's U19 has reached the final for the German A-Youth (U19) Championship for the seventh time. Head Coach Hannes Wolf commented on reaching the final on the 29.May against TSG Hoffenheim: "This is a great occasion. We are incredibly proud that we can go the whole way."

The BVB Academy made up for the 1-2 defeat in the 1st leg by winning 2-0 at TSV 1860 Munich and this means they have repeated their success of 2014, when the same team - back then as the U17 - lost the 1st leg in the semi-final against Hertha BSC by 1-2 at home and then won the 2nd leg in Berlin by 4-0 and went on to win the German Championship in the final against Leipzig. One year later the U17 defended the title.

Felix Passlack, who scored the winning goal, was in a euphoric mood after the 2-0 victory in the Munich rain: "this is the third time in a row that I have reached the final with the youth team, this is wonderful." Centre back Amos Pieper had played a long ball from midfield into the penalty area, Janni Serra "it felt like he jumped 2.5 metres high" (Wolf), put the pressure on 1860 goalkeeper Engl, who had been excellent up to that point and forced him to make a short clearance, "and then", according to Wolf, "the ball bounces to Felix. Brilliant, the way he placed the ball goal bound."

"After the 1st leg, where we were all angry about not being able to show what we can really do in front of this fantastic crowd, we felt a new force within the team", the Head Coach explained: "we weren't able to show what we are capable of under pressure. The great thing is that the team learned their lesson from this within a few days and they gave a great performance. We were especially good in the first half." That was the consequence of "radically changing things around. We especially changed things a lot tactically."

Borussia Dortmund could have been in front by more goals than 1-0 (assist by Passlack, goal  scored by Christian Pulisic) in the first half. In the second half 1860 adapted better to the way BVB was playing, however BVB were more involved in the game and they did what was necessary in order to avoid a penalty shoot-out. The Black Yellows got their just rewards in the 89.minute.

Now the opponent will be TSG Hoffenheim. On the A3, between Nürnberg and Würzburg, Wolf "didn't want to think about that. The final is not an issue today. The boys should enjoy themselves now. As of tomorrow we have just about two weeks time to prepare for this game." Boris Rupert
