In sporting terms, eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund are among the most successful clubs at national and international level. And now BVB are enjoying great economic success too: Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA have achieved a score of 100 on the Creditreform Solvency Index, meaning the club's solvency is matched by only 547 other companies in Germany.

"Achieving the highest-possible rating from a respectable and independent company like Creditreform is yet another indicator that BVB is in excellent shape in economic terms too," said Chief Executive Officer Hans-Joachim Watzke. "Never in its 107-year history has the club simultaneously been on the kind of solid sporting and financial footing that it is now," he added.

Managing Director Thomas Treß, who is responsible for the Financing and Organisation divisions, said: "Getting to the point that we have just reached now for the first time is the result of very sound economic management for a number of years. The current balance sheet figures attest to that too. The company Borussia Dortmund does not have a single cent of credit liabilities – otherwise it would not have been possible to get such a good rating from Creditreform."

Wolfgang Scharf, Managing Director of Creditreform Dortmund/Witten, congratulated BVB: "Such an outstanding credit rating is only achieved by 0.2 per thousand of the more than four million economically active companies in Germany. With a score of 100, BVB are also at Champions League level when it comes to stability and dependability."

The Creditreform Group is entirely committed to the idea of creditor protection. It is one of the leading providers of economic information and debt collection services in the world. The PD (Probability of Default) score that a company achieves on the Creditreform Solvency Index refers to the probability that the company as a borrower will default within a year in accordance with the Basel II criteria. The bottom end of the scale, and therefore the highest danger of default, is represented by a credit rating of 600; here the PD lies between 80 and 100%. With a credit rating of 100, the danger of default is at its lowest at under 0.01%.
