The 6-0 win in Warsaw was Borussia Dortmund's biggest victory in 92 Champions League games. Only once – almost 60 years ago to the day, in the old European Cup – have BVB won by a bigger margin.

Record victory: Borussia Dortmund's 45th victory in the UEFA Champions League was also the club's biggest. Including the old European Cup, the record dates back to 19 September 1956, when they thrashed Spora Luxembourg 7-0 in the deciding match of the preliminary round, having previously won 4-3 and lost 2-1. The highest victory in any European competition came on 10 October 1965 in an 8-0 win over Floriana La Valletta (Malta) in the first round of the European Cup Winners' Cup.

Quickest three-goal lead: Never before in the history of the UEFA Champions League has a team been 3-0 up after 16 minutes.

Comeback: Borussia Dortmund returned to Europe's elite club competition 546 days after losing 3-0 at home in the last 16 of the 2014/15 Champions League. They were facing an opponent from Poland for the second time after the double-header against Widzew Lodz in 1996/97 (2-1 and 2-2).

Back on the scoresheet: Mario Götze scored in the Champions League for BVB for the first time since 5 March 2013. Back then he scored the second in a 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the last 16.

All or nothing: None of the last 19 away matches in European competition have ended in a draw for BVB. There have been 12 victories and seven defeats.

Youngest midfield: The midfield that started the match had an average age of 20.6 years.

Experience: Between them, Borussia Dortmund's first-team squad had 399 Champions League appearance to their name prior to kick-off. (br)
