The Press Conference after the match was a continuation of the on-pitch battle, only it were a verbal clash this time around. Thomas Tuchel and Roger Schmidt were not exactly on the same page…

Thomas Tuchel on the match:

“We could well imagine before that it was going to be an intense and tiring encounter. I hadn’t expected us to manage to play so dominantly. We fell behind after their first and only corner. You could see our physical and mental fatigue. It took us a while to create scoring opportunities. A goal for us could have swung the match in our favour.”

…on Leverkusen’s 21 fouls to BVB’s 3:

“A fair game said the Leverkusen Manager to his BVB counterpart, whose team committed 21 fouls to BVB's 7. This was the third time this season that over 20 fouls have been committed against BVB. We had to make changes at half-time due to injury."

…on his team’s lack of goal threat:

“We didn’t quite pack a punch today and our final ball was left wanting. I felt for a long time in the second half that we could still score.” (br)
