Valentin Stocker's foul on Matthias Ginter earned him a red card.

BVB were losing 1-0, were denied by the post, missed from the penalty spot and still managed to get a 1-1 draw. What does it all tell us about the team?
"It says a lot about our morale. Before the match we discussed the fact that we don't need any excuses. Regardless of how many injuries we have. The lads who stepped in performed brilliantly. Really, a point is not enough. With a bit of luck we might have even won the game."

What was missing in the first half?
"We failed to create a lot of chances. It looked a bit dogged. We didn't manage to get many balls behind their last line of defence. In the second half the tempo was a lot, lot higher. We carved out some fantastic chances, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to get the win."

How did the central defensive partnership with Mikel Merino work out?
"It was really, really great to see him play. Everything is new to him, but he did well in his position considering it was his debut. We didn't give too much away. Going forward he showed his qualities too. We are happy to have him." (fu)
