Four-goal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang expressed his delight in a post-match interview with sky and BVBtotal!, before apologising to the team. Andre Schürrle und Sebastian Rode echoed the Gabon international's sentiments. We bring you the match reactions.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: "I feel very good, I am really happy. It was a special day for me. After having failed to win several Bundesliga games in a row, it was a very important victory for us today. The entire team reacted in the right way. Myself in particular, because I made a mistake prior to the match against Sporting Lisbon. I would like to apologise to the whole team for that."

Andre Schürrle: "We are satisfied with this victory. It feels good to get back to winning ways. We wanted to embrace the fight, we did that from the first minute and were rewarded with the early goal. We might have conceded twice and never really given ourselves a break, but that's exactly how we wanted to play: really take the game to the opposition, get stuck into the tackles and get that ball in the net. We did that in some style. Of course, it's extremely tough to take for the opposition."

Sebastian Rode: "We had actually braced ourselves to face a very aggressive Hamburg side and did not expect them to make it quite so easy for us. The early goal played into our hands. It gave us a bit more certainty. The individual errors that the Hamburg players made only served to accentuate that feeling. By the time we were leading 3-0, we were showing a certainty in our play that we would win the game."

"Glaring individual errors"

Nicolai Müller (Hamburger SV): "We made too many individual mistakes and quickly fell 3-0 behind. We only have ourselves to blame for that. Afterwards it was naturally extremely difficult. In the second half we tried to make the best of the situation and to not let ourselves be blown away."

Markus Gisdol (Trainer Hamburger SV): "I am very angry about our start to the match. We made glaring individual errors and they quickly raced into an uncatchable lead. That crushed us. The players are naturally not doing it on purpose but these mistakes immediately destroy our entire game plan. Nevertheless, they battled together in the second period and gave it their all. That was remarkable." (djg)
