Borussia Dortmund picked up their first Bundesliga victory in 43 days, scoring five goals in the process – just as they did in their only previous away win against VfL Wolfsburg. HSV never gave up and had more shots on goal (13:10). We bring you the match facts.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored four goals and set up the fifth, while Emre Mor assisted the first two.

Success in the north: BVB picked up their second away victory of the season – and their second big win in northern Germany, following their 5-1 success in Wolfsburg.

Goals galore: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now scored 65 Bundesliga goals, but his fourth-minute strike today was the quickest of the lot. Aubameyang is the first player this season to score more than three goals in a single game. The last player to do so was Bayern's Robert Lewandowski, who famously found the net five times for the Bavarians against Wolfsburg in September 2015. The Pole was also the last BVB player before Aubameyang to score a 'flawless hat-trick' (lupenreiner Hat-trick*), achieving the feat three years ago against Stuttgart. Overall, Aubameyang is the eighth BVB player to score a 'flawless hat-trick'. Manfred Burgsmüller even managed it twice.

Joint-top: Aubameyang has now found the net 11 times this season and moved top of the scoring charts alongside Köln striker Anthony Modeste, who hit a hat-trick against Hamburg last weekend...

Hat-trick hell for HSV: This season three 'flawless hat-tricks' have been scored – all against HSV. The first player to do so was Leverkusen's Pohjanpalo, followed by Köln's Modeste last week and Aubameyang today.

Goals glut: Seven goals were scored in today's clash. Only the 4-4 draw between Mainz and Hoffenheim on Matchday 2 of the current campaign yielded more goals.

Strong stamina: Before today, defensive midfielder Julian Weigl had not missed a single minute of Bundesliga action since coming on from the bench against Mainz on Matchday 1 after around 60 minutes. In Hamburg, he sat out the full 90 minutes.

Regular rotation: For each of the last seven competitive matches, Thomas Tuchel has always rotated at least four players. For the Hamburg match, the coach made four changes to the side that started against Lisbon, bringing in Piszczek, Rode, Aubameyang and Mor in place of Dembélé, Götze, Weigl and goal-scorer Ramos.

Goalless drought over: After 716 minutes without scoring, Nicolai Müller finally ended HSV's goal drought by grabbing his fifth-ever Bundesliga brace. The double means they scored as many as goals against BVB today as they have in their first nine games put together.

*In Germany, the term 'flawless hat-trick' (lupenreiner Hattrick) refers to a hat-trick when a player scores three goals in a row in one half without the half-time break or a goal scored by another player interfering the performance.
