Thomas Tuchel was in two minds after the match. On the one hand his team had found the net eight times, but on the other they had conceded four. "Ultimately I have the most sympathy for Roman. Everyone can imagine how he feels after conceding four," he said.

Thomas Tuchel on the match:
"I'm very surprised how this match developed. We were dominant at every stage, and I also always felt we were going to win the game. But I was also sure that we were not going to concede four times. We wanted to keep a clean sheet in the second half, but Legia also managed to score three times against Real Madrid. It goes to show you can't underestimate any opponent in the Champions League. It's difficult to analyse objectively. This match is tough to evaluate at first glance."

...on Marco Reus' comeback:
"It was fantastic that it worked out so well. The fact he scored three goals is something special. We had banked on him being a regular fixture for us this season and have had to wait far too long. He has recently been training at a very high level, but we could not expect him to score three in his first game back, especially in the Champions League and without competitive action under his belt. That's absolutely excellent, an outstanding comeback. A fantastic performance which highlights the quality that we have been without for months. He has been sorely missed.

...on the defensive performance:
"We will have to discuss the glaring mistakes that we are making. Both in one-on-one challenges and in shoring the defence up to deal with counters."

...on goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller:
"Ultimately I have the most sympathy for Roman. Everyone can imagine how he feels after conceding four. But with all his experience he won't particularly need advice or encouragement from me. No goalkeeper in the world could have stopped one of those goals. And there were others that had a hand in them. Roman will be ready to provide a top performance on Saturday. We want to make it possible for him to go into the next match with a good feeling."
