Borussia Dortmund signed two World Cup winners: the scorer of the winning goal Mario Götze and the player who provided the assist in the final 2014 against Argentinia, André Schürrle. Both will be wearing the Black and Yellow kit from now on! The excitement at the Borsigplatz is growing – and Hans-Joachim Watzke does give these words of caution: „we need to make sure we are ready for some big changes!“

All in all there are 13 transfers that are finalised. Götze and Schürrle are the new signings number seven and number eight. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the third key player after Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gündogan who decides it's time for a change. He leaves for Europa League qualifier Manchester United (Jakub Blaszczykowski and Moritz Leitner follow as departed players numbers four and five).

BVB then faces Mhitaryan and Gündogan's new clubs during the International Champions Cup in China and they mark the occasions on the international scene with a furious 4-1 win over Manchester United and they take  Manchester City to a penalty shoot-out. Sven Bender and Matthias Ginter are delighted to be called up to the German Olympic squad, Raphael Guerreiro wins EURO 2016 with Portugal.

Ousmane Dembélé scores the first BVB goal of the season in a 5-2 win in Erkenschwick. Just a few days later BVB wins 2-0 in Wuppertal. Remarkable fact: the youngest ever BVB senior team walks out onto the pitch for the second half: the average age of the eleven players is exactly 19.09 years.

The first flight in the new team airbus: the team flies from Dortmund to Salzburg in the Black and Yellow painted A320 Eurowings airbus - and from there they continue on to the Kitzbühl Alps for their first training camp to prepare for the new season: "we are impressed by the design of the new BVB airplane. This 'team airbus' will not only be used nationally, but it will also be put to use for our hopefully many Champions League trips and it will give a first class impression of Borussia Dortmund", is what Hans-Joachim Watzke had to say about the airplane that will from now on be flying the team to their away games in Germany and throughout all of Europe. (br)
