Thomas Tuchel was a very happy man as he fielded questions from sky after the victory over Leipzig. "It was a highly deserved win that leaves us feeling fantastic," said the BVB coach, who was quick to add: "We took a big step today, but it was still only one step."

What was your take on the match?
We performed brilliantly for 90 minutes. We won 1-0 but it should've been 4-0. We put in a superb display, showed great energy, defended at a really high level and our switch-play was outstanding. Obviously we didn't manage to put the game beyond Leipzig's reach but at the same time we didn't allow them a single shot on goal during the second period. It was a highly deserved win that leaves us feeling fantastic.

What's on the training agenda for Marco Reus in the next few days?
(Grins) Not much. He needs to rest and recuperate. Then he'll be among the goals again when we play Hertha on Wednesday.

What was your take on the goal?
Leipzig push extremely high up the pitch and they were made to pay for it on this occasion. Ousmane then had a lot of space down the right and was able to skip past Compper and Orban. Aubameyang made a good run and then in comes the inch-perfect cross. All in all, an excellent goal.

"We need to think in small steps"

What was going through your head as you celebrated the goal?
When the pressure is on at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, when the floodlights are on and when there's this special energy, then I get caught up in it too. It's impossible for someone to keep their hands in their pockets after going 1-0 up. And I'm no different.

What do the three points mean for the rest of the season?
We've taken seven points from three games now. If we can repeat that over the next three matches, that'll be 14 points from six games. I'd take that right now. We need to think in small steps. It doesn't get us anywhere to start calculating and looking at the results of the teams around us. We really deserved to win this one. This is the way forward. We reinvested everything. If we continue to do that, train like we did this week and play like we did today, then we'll get the points. Today we took a big step, but it was still only one step. (djg)
