Lukasz Piszczek spoke about how well BVB bounced back from their last two matches, while Gonzalo Castro highlighted the importance of adding a second and third so quickly after the break. "It means the opposition can't find a quick route back into the game," explained the midfield strategist. Here we bring you the first reactions to the victory over Wolfsburg, courtesy of sky and BVBtotal!.

Thomas Tuchel: "We managed to play with focus. We created a lot of chances and gave away few. We're currently working very hard and showing great discipline in defence. Lukasz Piszczek is currently on excellent form. He was absolutely outstanding against Benfica and again today. He embodies everything that is good about BVB. Now we have a foot in the door at all times, but we're still capable of more. The game had a strange feel about it but the atmosphere was still good. A big compliment to everyone who came. That said, we hope we don't have to experience an empty South Stand again."

Lukasz Piszczek: "It was very good and extremely important that we showed this kind of reaction to the past two games. In Lisbon, we squandered a whole host of chances so we wanted to improve on that today – and we did just that. Today we had a lot of chances too and we managed to convert three of them. It was great from the entire team."

Gonzalo Castro: "It was very, very important that we added the second and third so quickly after the interval. It means the opponent can't find a quick route back into the game. But we controlled the match well anyway, with the exception of Malli's shot shortly before the break."

Marcel Schmelzer: "It was a strange feeling to play in front of an empty South Stand. It reminded me a bit of when we start training in the summer and only three sides of the stadium are full. It fell on the rest of the spectators to replace the missing 25,000 as best they could today. Fortunately we'll be back to a full house at our next home game."

"It wasn't the performance we'd hoped for"

Valérien Ismael (VfL Wolfsburg coach): "It was a highly deserved victory for Dortmund. For the whole 90 minutes we didn't pose enough of an attacking threat to worry BVB. Getting the second took the pressure off for them and we never got back into it. We could do with forgetting this one quickly."

Maximilian Arnold (VfL Wolfsburg player): "We knew that it would be difficult, but that was definitely not the performance we'd hoped for. The fact their opener came from an own goal is obviously a tough one to take. Once they got a second and third, it was all over." (djg)
