Thomas Tuchel spoke about his team's performance at the post-match press conference, where he reserved special praise for the display the Black and Yellows produced after the half-time interval.

Thomas Tuchel on the balance of play:
"After going 1-0 up we looked for solutions too early, played the ball out wide too early, didn't find the no. 10 positions and lost challenges. It was a mixture of everything; not too bad but we didn't have our rhythm. But even then we consistently defended with seriousness. After the half-time interval we upped the tempo, were more compact and made life easier for ourselves by winning the ball back. When we got the ball we were good too, and played a fantastic second half."

...on hat-trick hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang:
"As I've already said a few times now, we will only reach our objectives if he's in top form. I think we might have been playing with his twin brother in Lisbon, so it was good to have him on form today. Whenever possible, we want him to have the final touch, and that worked perfectly today."

...on Christian Pulisic, the driving force in the second period:
"He's a player who never gives up. The good thing about him is he's open to criticism and always maintains his intensity. He and the team both put in an extraordinary second-half display today."

...on Barcelona and the quarter-final draw:
"Having won 4-0 we were euphoric in the changing rooms. At that point it was 5-1 there and everyone felt they were capable of getting another. We actually thought that we would be the news story this evening, but now this probably looks rather boring (laughs). I don't have a preferred opponent. I don't want an all-German draw. Not because we would be scared, but because we want to compete internationally, travel and get to know stadia across Europe."
