Borussia Dortmund have tied another highly talented player to a long-term deal: Jacob Bruun Larsen, who tops the scoring charts in the U19 Bundesliga West with 20 goals this season, has signed a new deal that keeps him at the club until 30 June 2021.

The Dane has been at Borussia Dortmund since January 2015. In the summer of that year he won the German B Junior Championship with the U17s, before helping the U19s to the A Junior title 12 months later. He represented his homeland of Denmark in the 2016 Olympic Games, where he played in all four matches until the Scandinavian nation were knocked out by Nigeria at the quarter-final stage.

Following several appearances in friendly matches, the 18-year-old made his competitive debut on 26 October 2016 when he started for the Black and Yellows in their DFB Cup Second Round tie against Union Berlin. He even found the net in that match, which Dortmund won 3-0 on penalties following a 1-1 draw, but his shot that put BVB ahead in the 44th minute was deflected in by Michael Parensen and was therefore officially recognised as an own goal.

Bruun Larsen has already found the net 20 times in the current A Junior Bundesliga campaign but unfortunately will not have the opportunity to improve on that tally after being ruled out until the end of the season with a broken metatarsal in his left foot. "It was a tough one to take both for us and Jacob. But we're convinced he will be back to his best in time for the new season and believe that he is capable of undertaking a similar development to other former A Junior players such as Christian Pulisic and Felix Passlack in the coming years," commented Sporting Director Michael Zorc, who took the new contract with him when he paid a visit to Bruun Larsen in hospital following his successful operation.
