Dortmund remains a good place for the German national team to play! The current World Champions beat England in a friendly match in their 19. game in Dortmund by 1-0 (0-0). The goal of the day was scored by the man who was being cheered on by the crowd in his last international for the German national team: Lukas Podolski.

Julian Weigl and substitute André Schürrle were the Borussia Dortmund players who were in the team. Schürrle laid on the ball that led to Podolski scoring the 1-0.

The game against England was the 19. international to be played in Dortmund. The first match took place more than 80 years ago in May 1935, back then in the Stadion Rote Erde against Ireland. It ended with a 3-1 victory. The German national team has always won in Dortmund apart from two draws (against Italy in 2011 and also against Wales in 1977) and they suffered one defeat in the World Cup semi-final against Italy (0-2 a.e.t.)! (br)
