Roman Bürki was one of the first BVB players to speak to the media after the 4-1 defeat in Munich. The shot-stopper was disappointed, telling sky that "Bayern looked beatable in the first half".

Roman Bürki: "I'm disappointed with the result. The margin of defeat is a little too high. Bayern took their chances, we didn't. We didn't have enough possession in the second half (editor's note: 26 percent). For their first goal I didn't see the ball until very late, a Bayern player drew his foot back. We had the first chance of the match and I think they looked beatable in the first half."

Thomas Tuchel: "Anything other than this dominance and this result would have surprised me. Bayern reached the very top of their game today. The level was comparable with away matches in Madrid and Barcelona. If you have to resort to A-Youth players in a huge game like this, six of your starting XI are playing in Munich for the first time and you're fielding players like Sebastian Rode, who was making his first appearance following half a year on the sidelines injured, then it's always going to be tough. On top of that, the match just didn't go in our favour today. We were brilliant in the first ten minutes but it was Bayern who were 2-0 up. Auba had a huge chance to pull it back to 3-2 after the break – then straight after we conceded the penalty. This defeat is a bitter experience. But such experiences will help us to perform better in future knockout matches."

Felix Passlack: "You have to admit that Bayern were simply the better team today. They had more bite in the tackles, made better use of space and were more clinical in front of goal. We should've been 1-0 ahead; perhaps then there would have been a different outcome."

Jérôme Boateng (FC Bayern): "We played very well today, particularly in the first half, and controlled the match. For Dortmund's goal we didn't defend well, we gifted it to them."
