"One can see how the team works, what great characters we have and that they really see themselves as a unit," said Thomas Tuchel in the wake of the match against Frankfurt. "What they did after the final whistle with the shirt in front of the stand was a great gesture from the team. Marc Bartra is an integral figure for us," he continued. Here we bring you the reactions from the BVB coach and captain Marcel Schmelzer.

Thomas Tuchel: "My players have shown great character. They did on Wednesday and they have again today. For that they deserve the biggest-possible compliment. Though today wasn't a more difficult task than Wednesday for me personally, that definitely doesn't apply to everyone. That said, I had the feeling today that we've all learnt to deal with the emotional swings. I was told yesterday by professionals that there's probably a period of two to three days in which one stabilises emotionally. For the players I believe it is then easier to distract themselves if they can get out onto the pitch and play. What they did after the final whistle with the shirt in front of the stand was a great gesture from the team. Marc Bartra is an integral figure for us. One can see how the team works, what great characters we have and that they really see themselves as a unit. There was a great interaction with the crowd today, who probably have more of a feel for such situations than you could get anywhere else. That's what brings about moments like these."

"Spine-tingling moment in front of the South Stand"

Marcel Schmelzer: "During the 90 minutes it was slightly easier for us than it was on Wednesday evening. But then there was another spine-tingling moment in front of the South Stand and the distraction of playing was over. All in all, how we feel has not improved much since Wednesday. We are trying to talk a lot among ourselves, to cope with it all, but we have also had professional help offered to us, which I believe is very important. I hope that things get better very quickly. We are in constant contact with Marc Bartra and have noticed that he is doing better and that he wants to be back with us as soon as possible. This victory today is for him." (djg)
