Thomas Tuchel was satisfied with his team’s performance after they were held to a 1-1 draw with Augsburg. After their last away match of the season he said “we played well throughout, with phases where we really applied some pressure”.

Thomas Tuchel on the match:

“We played well throughout with phases where we really applied some pressure. At the same time it was difficult to play here, and particularly to get any gilt-edged chances in the first half, as Augsburg played with a combination of man and zonal marking. Then the onus is on you to make the most of one-on-ones. When the pitch is pretty ragged, which this one was, then it makes it extremely difficult".

… on the second half:

“After the break we were alert in defence and attacked very well, having many goal-scoring opportunities. Even though we didn’t have any big, big chances to score, they were still big enough to take the lead and to decide the game”.

… on the battle for third:

“Our position now hasn’t dramatically changed, it’s far more preferable. It’s crystal-clear – we have two games remaining, one in Dortmund and one in Berlin. We have always performed in these matches, so we are very optimistic".

… on Julian Weigl’s injury:

“He got stuck in the turf which was incredibly ragged. He immediately felt that something had cracked, something bad, and that’s what happened. The initial diagnosis is an ankle fracture and a month out of action. He plays every game for us, he plays in the middle – when Julian plays there, the ball goes from A to B half or a whole second quicker.” (br)
