Jan Siewert has been appointed to succeed Daniel Farke as the coach of Borussia Dortmund's U23s. The 34-year-old's last post was as boss of the U19s at VfL Bochum, where he was also assistant to head coach Gertjan Verbeek.

Siewert, who holds all the necessary licenses, began his coaching career as Youth Coordinator at DFB headquarters before becoming co-coach of the Germany U17s and U18s. He then worked for one season as head coach for Regional League outfit Rot-Weiss Essen.

Last term the tactician steered the VfL Bochum U19 side to fourth place in the Bundesliga West, and they would have made it into the Final Round of the German Championship if results had gone their way on the final day of the campaign.

Ingo Preuß, the Sporting Director of Borussia Dortmund's U23s, said of the new appointment: "In Jan Siewert we have appointed a young, ambitious coach who is a perfect fit for us thanks to his many years of experience at youth level. His objective is to take our talented youngsters one step closer to professional football and we believe he will do so."
