It was not to be Borussia Dortmund's night in the Super Cup despite Roman Bürki initially denying Bayern's Joshua Kimmich from the spot in the shootout. The BVB shot-stopper's disappointment was palpable as he gave an interview to BVBtotal! in the wake of the unlucky defeat. However, the 26-year-old maintained the Black & Yellows could take a lot of positives from the match. "I'm referring to the first goal in particular," he said.

Roman, how disappointed are you, having conceded the equaliser with just minutes remaining and then suffered an unlucky penalty shootout defeat?
We're obviously very disappointed as it's still so raw. We should've seen out this match in normal time rather than letting it go to penalties. Bayern's second goal was definitely unlucky from our point of view. Then we were lacking that little bit of luck in the penalty shootout.

You were in the thick of it for their second equaliser. Give us your take on that curious goal…
It probably seemed to happen more quickly from where I was standing than it did for any spectator watching. You almost lose your bearings because you're constantly trying to keep your eyes on ball. Ultimately it was very unlucky that it ended up going in, but I think we should've defended the set-piece better in the first place.

Penalty shootouts are then a lottery of course. What did you make of the shootout?
They always say that you have nothing to lose, but that's exactly what we did in the penalty shootout this evening. It's extremely unlucky. I don't really want to talk about it much to be honest, because penalties are always a matter of luck. I'm just annoyed that the game went to penalties in the first place.

But there were a lot of good things out there today. What positives can you take from this game?
With the benefit of hindsight, we will probably take a lot of positives from this game. I'm referring to the first goal in particular. With the pressing high up the pitch and then Christian winning the ball back and scoring. That's exactly what the coach is expecting from us. We covered ground well too. We need to continue in this vein. (djg)
