DFB Cup winners Borussia Dortmund and FSV Zwickau have agreed to postpone their friendly, which was scheduled to be played at the third tier outfit's stadium on Sunday 13 August. Due to BVB's lengthy list of injured and unavailable players, the club could not guarantee it would be able to field a suitably strong squad for the match so soon after their DFB Cup First Round clash with FC Rielasingen-Arlen in Freiburg on Saturday.

"We feel obliged to name a strong team for this friendly, but can't guarantee that we'll be able to do so in the current situation," explained BVB Sporting Director Michael Zorc, who continued: "We were very frank in relaying our concerns about Sunday to Zwickau's representatives. They reacted very positively and we'd like to thank them for their willingness to postpone the match at short notice. We'll head to West Saxony with the best-possible team we have as soon as possible, perhaps even in the international break at the start of September."

Jörg Schade, the Head of Sport and Match Operations at FSV Zwickau, expressed understanding for Borussia Dortmund's plight: "We're actually very happy about BVB's open approach. We'd prefer to welcome such a strong opponent at a slightly later date if, for the sake of our fans and football lovers in the region, it means we end up facing an even more attractive team."

Both teams will work in close coordination to agree a date to reschedule the friendly and will announce this as soon as possible. Tickets that have been purchased will remain valid.
