Having previously recorded two assists in all competitions for BVB, summer signing Maximilian Philipp scored his first two goals for the club against Köln. The first one, which came after just 100 seconds, was Dortmund's quickest goal in four and a half years.

"It was a very good performance from us. We dominated from the first minute to the last and played some really good football," said the two-time goalscorer and former Freiburg man in a post-match interview with Sky. Philipp, who netted his second to make it 5-0 in the 69th minute, added: "The margin of victory was deserved too. Every opponent struggles to cope with our offensive pressing. We saw out the win well today."

It was a second Bundesliga brace for the 23-year-old, who had previously netted twice when Freiburg played Gladbach on 10 September 2016. Only two of his 12 top-flight goals to date have been headers. (br)
