Thoroughly Deserved: Borussia Dortmund were unquestionably the superior team, with 75% of the possession, a 59% win-rate in tackles contested, and a shots on goal ratio of 18-8 in their favour, and got their highest win in a year as a result (6-0 against Darmstadt on 17 September 2016).

A Fair Game: A total of only eight fouls – two of which were committed by Dortmund players – made for the fairest game of the new season so far.

Winning Streak: The Black and Yellows achieved five consecutive wins for the first time ever against their namesakes from Gladbach, scoring 20 goals in the process.

Goal-Getter: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got off eight shots on goal, hitting the woodwork three times, and finding the back of the net likewise three times. It was the first hat-trick for a Dortmund player since November 2016. Aubameyang notched up a four goal haul that day in the 5-2 defeat of Hamburg.

Goal-Scorer: Maximilian Philipp got his third and fourth goals of the season. He has never scored so many after six matches played before. It was also his third brace in his Bundesliga career, the second against Gladbach – and the second within a week. He had scored two against Cologne as well. Furthermore, Philipp was involved in three goals in a single Bundesliga game for the first time ever.

Goal Against: Lars Stindl was the man to end BVB's impeccable run of clean sheets in the league so far this season. They had gone 515 minutes without conceding up until today.

Premiere: Julian Weigl scored his first league goal in his 62nd Bundesliga outing having shot at goal 17 times. He scored his first goal for BVB in a UEFA Champions League encounter against Sporting Lisbon 11 months ago.

Debut: Jeremy Toljan played his first Bundesliga game for Borussia Dortmund; he had already made his competitive debut in the Champions League playing against Tottenham.
