The second match of the UEFA Youth League consisted of the second group stage game, and was played today, Tuesday. The Borussia Dortmund U19s faced Real Madrid at the Dortmund-Brackel training ground. They deservedly won the encounter 5-3 with a convincing performance and many brilliant goals. Alexander Isak got one, while both Hüsyin and Jacob Bruun Larsen scored a brace to give Benjamin Hoffman's team the win.

The senior team players Jadon Sancho and Isak were included in the starting eleven.

BVB were unquestionably the stronger team at the beginning of the contest. Benjamin Hoffman's team played bravely going forwards and didn't give their opponents the space to play their own game. BVB were repeatedly able to make it to the byline thanks to the pace of their wingers, Larsen and Sancho, whereafter dangerous balls were pinged into the box. The Black and Yellows' first goal came in the 12' minute. The aforementioned Larsen made his way through on the right hand side of the field before cutting the ball back where Bulut stood ready to shoot, sinking the ball to bring up the 1-0 lead.

Not six minutes had gone by when the same two players doubled the lead. Once again, the redoubtable Bulut was the man able to find the back of the net, almost completely unmarked. This finally got the alarm bells ringing in the Madrid players' heads. The second goal practically served as a wake up call for the Royals, after which Real Madrid legend Guti's team suddenly began to swarm forward more dangerously.

Real use their first chances to equalise 2-2

After about half an hour played, BVB invited the visitors to score an away goal. Loss of possession during a spell of build-up play made for confusion in the backline, something that Real Madrid exploited ruthlessly. BVB lost their discipline somewhat after conceding, so much so that a long ball was sufficient to take the defensive line out of the equation. Real scored their second goal using their third chance on goal. Subsequently, the Black and Yellows had further opportunities, but were unable to overcome the visiting goalkeeper, meaning the two teams trudged in at the interval with the score still at 2-2.

BVB shot out of the traps as they had done in the first half at the beginning of the second passage of play. Unaffected by the two goals conceded after having held the lead, Benjamin Hoffman's boys immediately created a dangerous play. Jacob Bruun Larsen, who put in an excellent performance today, tested the visitors' goalkeeper after being set up superbly by the strong Jadon Sancho. Cause for celebration came about ten minutes later, when Larsen fired home in the 58' minute for 3-2 after Sancho had set him up once again.

Real's defence unable to tame Bruun Larsen

Initially, the Royals' goalkeeper was able to deny Bulut brilliantly, but then had no chance of stopping Larsen. Following that, BVB attempted to land the killer blow and forced their way again and again into the 18-yard box via the flanks. Around ten minutes before time, the referee awarded the Borussia men a penalty as the ball had been handled. Larsen converted masterfully – and the game was won. Against the remaining ten away team players left on the field, Isak scored another on the break roughly five minutes before the end of the match. The Spaniards shortened the lead to 5-3 just before the whistle signalling the end of the encounter was blown.

The next match of the competition is against APOEL Nicosia, who were able to defeat Tottenham this week 1-0.
