Manager Peter Bosz and captain Marcel Schmelzer were visibly disappointed while being interviewed by sky after drawing the match against Nicosia. Both lamented the few chances on goal, but publicly defended Roman Bürki.

Peter Bosz: "The result is disappointing. We started well, but didn't get a goal. We didn't play out from the back quickly enough. We wanted to improve on that in the second half, but we were unable to do so. Overall, we should be happy that we still managed to get a draw. In such games, it is important to score first, and we had opportunities to do that in the first half, but all of our shots were off-target. It will be difficult now. We have to win our home game against Nicosia and then take a look how both of the last two games play out. Roman has also done much to help the team so far this season. It happens in football. The team won't lay the blame at his door."

Marcel Schmelzer: "We are disappointed, understandably. We tasked ourselves with winning the match. Things were going OK in the first half, but the second half was simply crazy. We gave them far too many chances on the break, and didn't create many chances for ourselves. Our best chance came in the last minute, and with a bit of luck we still could have won the match. All of us wanted to win today, but we were not as composed as we needed to be, and everybody was moving high up the pitch. You can't do that, least of all in the Champions League, where you will be punished. You need to be more patient and calmer in such situations, and make sure you're covering properly. Roman is good with his feet, and on a decent pitch, he would get the ball to his man. It didn't work out tonight, but that is not a problem for him. The largest problem is that we didn't create any chances for ourselves. We will need to produce a reaction in the return leg."
