"Maybe the match against Bayern Munich is coming at just the right time", suggested Peter Bosz after the 1-1 draw against Apoel Nicosia, which he assessed thusly: "The players fought until the end, but they had no luck."

Peter Bosz on why , despite their clear superiority, they only managed a draw:
"We did not take advantage of the many chances on goal that we had. And the first time Apoel approach our goal, they score. If you have not won your previous games too, that chips away at your players' confidence. It was clear how disappointed they were after the opposition equalised. I can understand that, but you have got to keep going. We subsequently had really good chances on goal, but failed to convert them."

... on certain players' lack of confidence:
"It is my job to give these players back their confidence. The simplest way to do that is to win a game. A win is the best medicine. For a striker, the most important thing is that he scores. I said to my players straight after the game in the dressing room: letting your head drop will not achieve anything. Head up, work hard and keep going!"

... on the fact they have only won one game in their last six competitive fixtures:
"We are deeply disappointed. We really ought to have won against Nicosia at home. But we didn't manage that, and that's not good. There are no excuses for that. But I think there was a big difference compared with the game in Hanover. The players fought until the end, but they had no luck. The space we ceded to Hanover was not there for our opposition tonight. Nonetheless, the result is disappointing."

... on how things will play out in Group H of the UEFA Champions League:
"A win against Nicosia was also important so that we might continue in the Europa League after the winter break. There are still two games to play that are important to that end."

... on the next game in the Bundesliga:
"The Bavarians come here in three days. They have got one day more than us to prepare for the match. We will give our all to win this game, and the preparation for the match begins tomorrow. Maybe the match against Bayern is coming at just the right time. At the beginning of the season, when we were picking up lots of points, there were high expectations placed upon us. Maybe people are expecting less from us on Saturday.
