U23s mount all-out attack in Bonn

Trainer Jan Siewert made a number of changes to the starting eleven that had lined up for the side's previous encounter. Abdelmajid Bouali and also Denzeil Boadu could celebrate their debuts wearing the Black and Yellow kit.

BVB began the match with impetus, and it was Michael Eberwein who got off the first shot of the encounter early on in the second minute, though his shot was just over the bar. The next good chance fell to captain Patrick Mainka, who rose highest in the box to meet an incoming free-kick, but his effort was likewise over the target. The Borussia men dictated the game, had much possession, and were repeatedly able to get close to the hosts' goal. Massimo Ornatelli hit a free-kick in the 39' minute against the post. Philipp Hanke was to do better two minutes later, stroking home the ball completely unmarked in front of goalkeeper Monath after having been set up by Ornatelli to take a deserved 1-0 lead.

The Black and Yellows continued in the second passage of play where they had left off in the first. The Borussia boys created chance after chance for themselves by way of attractive football. Herbert Bockhorn scored the first goal of the second half with a lovely shot into the top left hand corner of the goal. Not three minutes had passed when the impressive Ornatelli topped off Borussia's excellent performance with a third goal. His perfectly struck free-kick landed unstoppably in the hosts' goal.

The game was already decided at this early stage of the second half. Nevertheless, BVB had not had enough, and continued to push forward in search of more. Bockhorn got his brace in the 68' minute of play to bring the score to 4-0, after Ornatelli and Sauerland had combined strongly in the build up. BVB had the fixture under their total control in front of 1000 spectators in the Sportpark North, and so dropped a gear or two towards the end, meaning Bonn had a couple of half-hearted attempts on goal. These were not especially dangerous, and so BVB ran out winners thanks to a well-deserved 4-0 scoreline.
BVB Trainer Jan Siewert was very satisfied with his team after the game. "It was a deserved victory today, from the first to the last minute. We knew we were going up against a genuine bulwark. We created myriad chances for ourselves and rewarded ourselves with a good number of goals."

The U23s are back in action again already this coming Friday. The beginning of the second half of the season sees Jan Siewert's side travel to Red White Essen, where they will play in the stadium on Hafenstraße.
