Marcel Schmelzer and Peter Bosz pulled no punches when they faced the sky cameras after the Bremen defeat. "I've not seen a half as bad as that since I've been here," admitted Bosz. Schmelzer added: "This performance was a shambles from us as players." Here we bring you the reactions.

Peter Bosz: "It's difficult to talk with the team straight after a match like that. There is profound disappointment. We had to win this match. The team needs a victory. But to do so we needed to perform much better than we did in the first half. I've not seen a half as bad as that since I was appointed coach here. The second period was slightly better. There was a bit of hope after we equalised at 1-1, but then Bremen hit back quickly with the next goal. Ultimately it might be the players who have to do the business on the pitch, but I am the person responsible."

Marcel Schmelzer: "This performance was a shambles from us as players, let's be clear about this. For weeks now, I've consistently been saying the same thing after our matches – that we finally need to deliver the goods. And then we go and perform like that; it's crazy. I'm not talking about the coach, because we players need to perform. I just can't wrap my head around something like this, how something like this can happen in such an important game. People must be thinking: He's always saying the same thing. But it doesn't help, only we players can change that. The whistling from the fans after the match shows the disappointment they have been feeling in recent times. I'm convinced that the fans have a good intuition and, for example, they notice if we show passion on the pitch but still end up losing. Then they won't whistle. But today that was simply not the case, especially in the first period. I reiterate, talking won't help any more. Every individual player needs to deliver the goods on the pitch." (djg)
