Following the win over TSG Hoffenheim, Peter Stöger spoke to sky while Jeremy Toljan and Julian Weigl shared their thoughts with BVBtotal! "That's exactly what we expect from the team," said the BVB coach. Julian Weigl added: "We had a little bit of luck on our side, but sometimes that's what you need."

Peter Stöger: "We absolutely had to win this match. We made a bright start and had a few chances at the beginning, but then Hoffenheim adapted to us better. We weren't able to consistently disrupt them, our pass completion rate fell slightly and the whole game became a bit more sluggish. During that spell, we were lucky not to fall 2-0 behind. We gave it everything towards the end. That's exactly what we expect from the team. The ball in behind the defence from Kagawa for the winner took them by surprise, Pulisic did well to get in there and scored a super goal. In the last two matches we have demonstrated our will to win and our attitude. Let's see what we can do in Munich. It's always exciting and it certainly won't be pleasant there, but we're definitely in with a chance."

Jeremy Toljan: "It was a special feeling to play against my former team-mates. And of course, it feels good to have won. We deserved this victory, even if we did get a bit of luck at times. We stuck at it; a last-minute victory like that is great in front of our own fans. We've lost a few games late on or unluckily in the first half of this season, so to win like that really does you good. Especially for our spirit and our confidence, it's important to know that we're also capable of winning at the end."

Julian Weigl: "It was an emotional match and it was just important to win. We had a little bit of luck on our side, but sometimes that's what you need. We worked hard for that at the end of this match, didn't give up, continued to go forward and gave it everything we had again. And we got our reward. These two victories put us right back in contention for the Champions League, which is very important for us."

"We performed very well"

Julian Nagelsmann (TSG Hoffenheim coach): "We performed very well and scored a great goal in the first half. After the restart we had three gilt-edged chances and should have killed the game. Ultimately the defeat definitely wasn't deserved, it's actually very annoying because we were not outplayed." (djg)
