After a 13-day break, Borussia Dortmund's senior team players returned to work today on Wednesday, and have flown to a training camp being held in Marbella. Their first training session there took place in the afternoon soon after they had arrived.

Peter Stöger was able to greet the recovered Lukasz Piszczek, Mario Götze, Gonzalo Castro, Erik Durm and also Marco Reus onto the training pitch. They took part in all the exercises planned for the session, but Reus et al. were given special bibs that signalled they were not to be tackled during the game to conclude the day's training.

Reus' return to the training pitch does not mean, however, that hopes for an early return to action may be entertained. The striker's recovery is on schedule after having had surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament just under seven months ago.

Marcel Schmelzer's training came to a premature end because of a problem with his calves. "We're taking it day by day with him", said Stöger.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not yet in Marbella in agreement with the sporting management. Africa's Footballer of the Year 2015 is one of three candidates for the 2017 award, which will be given on Thursday at a gala in Ghana. He is expected back with BVB on Friday. (br)
