Borussia Dortmund have clearly had the upper hand in their recent home games with SC Freiburg. But the Black & Yellows cannot and will not rely on statistics when the referee's whistle signals kick-off in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday at 15:30 CET. Here we have compiled everything you need to know about the match into the usual compact format.

Maximilian Philipp will be unavailable to face his former club.

The scenario: Sixth-placed Borussia, who remain unbeaten under Peter Stöger but are yet to register a win in 2018, will welcome in-form Freiburg, who go into Round 20 on a longer unbeaten run than any other club in the Bundesliga (seven games). BVB have won their last nine home games against Freiburg, scoring 27 and conceding three in the process.

Home/away: Borussia Dortmund have won only one of their last six home games (a 2-1 victory over Hoffenheim on 16 December). SC Freiburg have the 14th best away record, but have only lost one of their last four on the road (3-1 in Wolfsburg on 18 November 2017).

Personnel matters: Schmelzer, Guerreiro, Reus, Philipp, Durm and Rode are missing for the Black & Yellows, while Freiburg are without Frantz, Höfler, Ravet and Niederlechner.

Record: BVB have only failed to find the net in two of their 33 meetings with Freiburg (a 0-0 draw earlier this season and a 2-0 loss in October 2001). They have won each of their last nine meetings at home, scoring 27 and conceding three. Freiburg have not been waiting this long for a win against any other current Bundesliga side. It is 13 games since they beat BVB 3-1 in May 2010 (goal difference since then 38-5). SCF have opened the scoring 13 times against BVB but have only won two of those and have more defeats from a winning position (six) than against any other club.

Statistics: Borussia Dortmund have only failed to score once in their last 16 games and have scored the second-most goals (40) in the division behind Bayern Munich (44). Only the Bavarians have kept more clean sheets than BVB, who currently have seven (already three more than they amassed in the whole of last season). Freiburg have scored points from losing positions more often than any other team in the league (six) and are unbeaten in seven. Their last such run came almost six years ago.

Biggest home win: On 28 September 2013, braces from Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski, plus a goal from Jakub Blaszczykowski, sealed a 5-0 victory.

Referee: The DFB has yet to announce an appointment.

Attendance: Freiburg will bring 3,300 fans. There are still around 600 tickets available via the Online Ticket Shop.
