Before the match with Sport-Club Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund's Sporting Director Michael Zorc addressed the Aubameyang issue. "We have stated in all discussions that we are prepared to agree to a transfer if certain parametres are met." He also added: "We have calmed down the situation and also held talks with his family."

"Auba has trained very well in the last ten days," Zorc told pay-TV channel Sky before kick-off, adding: "We need to look at things soberly. In January there were two major transgressions: the first time he missed the team meeting before the match against Wolfsburg, and then he didn't train well last week before the match against Hertha. We sanctioned that with the measures available to us. He wasn't fully focused. We have calmed down the situation and held discussions with his family."

...on Aubameyang's relationship with the team:
"There is absolutely no problem with the team. I have watched almost every training session in the last few days and seen how intensively he has worked. He is prepared for the fact that the fans may signal their displeasure and he is professional enough to deal with it."

...on rules that have been broken:
"The team does not accept such acting-up, nor should it. We need clear rules that apply to everyone. But if I am entirely honest, it is partly down to the media coverage. Auba has trained excellently for ten days and has stated that he would like to play today, and the team is in complete agreement with this. Everything depends on his further conduct; there is a good arrangement in the team, there are no real problems between the players. There has been a lot of talking within the team and everyone is happy that he is back on the pitch."

...on a possible transfer to Arsenal:
"We know about Auba's preferred transfer, but we also have a clear position. He's in his fifth year with us. We have stated in all discussions we are prepared to agree to a transfer under certain parametres. But only if these parametres are met. Arsenal have initiated several attempts and we have rejected them all. So we don't know the outcome of the situation. Either our demands are met, or he stays. That has also been clearly discussed with and accepted by his family." (djg)
