Today's matchday in the Bundesliga was selected to be the annual "Day of Remembrance in German Football". A number of clubs and fans marked the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the concentration and extermination camp, on 27 January 1945 by carrying out various activities to commemorate the victims of national socialism.

For several years now, the DFL foundation has been supporting the "Never Again!" initiative and the "Remembrance Day in German Football" on or around 27 January, the anniversary of the liberation of concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz.

BVB were among those supporting the initiative. Alongside an announcement made by stadium announcer Norbert Dickel, which evoked the memories of the people persecuted and murdered by the national socialists, both teams posed together for a joint photo in which they held aloft a banner that read "#WeRemember". The hashtag stands for a campaign on social media that was initiated by the World Jewish Congress to keep the memories alive.

In the North Stand, a banner made by the BVB Fan Department that has been displayed in previous years read: "Borussia connects generations, men and women, all nations". They were joined by other fans in showing their support.

In addition, there was a reminder about the annual remembrance event ("Tag gegen das Vergessen") that will take place for the eighth time this coming Monday (29/1) at the BOROSSEUM. At this year's event, witness Eva Weyl will be attending and telling her story. It will begin at 19:09 CET, with entry free of charge. Admission will start at 18:30 CET.

Borussia Dortmund stands for an open and diverse society and takes a clear position against any kind of marginalisation and discrimination. Never again! – Together we will not forget.
