Much like his predecessor, Michy Batshuayi got off to a sensational start in black & yellow. While Aubameyang netted a hat-trick in a 4-0 away victory over Augsburg on 10 August 2013, Batshuayi also found the net on three occasions – but "only" two of the goals stood. However, the Belgian later set up André Schürrle for the winning goal in a 3-2 victory.

"I feel very good, but I want to become even better," said Batshuayi after the match in Müngersdorf, adding: "Today it was just important to win the game."

His match statistics made for impressive reading. Seven shots, two goals and one assist. Only four misplaced passes! Batshuayi was heavily involved the play and touched the ball 41 times, although he felt "it wasn't easy today. I've only been here for two days and I tried to implement what the coach told me."

The Chelsea loanee celebrated his second goal in front of the BVB fans, whom he described as "magnificent", "outstanding" and "remarkable". He added: "I knew about the Borussia Dortmund fans from seeing them on television, I've watched them often. I'm very happy that I managed to get my first goals so quickly."

Stöger: "A dream for everyone involved"

"We lost an extraordinary striker and gained a player who has qualities in front of goal," said Peter Stöger as he reflected on Batshuayi's debut: "He wasn't getting too many minutes at Chelsea, which is why he pushed for a switch. The fact the match went like that for him is a dream for everyone involved. It will do him good, it will do us good." The goals aside, Michy Batshuayi is a player "who will enhance our game".
