A team from Borussia Dortmund has joined forces with our main sponsor Evonik – with whom the club has now been in partnership for ten years – to organise another football event for 100 children in Brazil. Much like in 2016, an emphasis was placed on social projects with the kids.

Training took place at the start of February, between Friday and Sunday, on the pitches of the Soccer School run by Rivellino, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 1970.

The first day began with two training sessions for 20 children from the Rivellino Sports Center and 10 kids from the Quadra do Xuxa Soccer School, whose founder Jorge is a huge BVB fan. No surprises then, that the school's colours are black and yellow. On that day, Jorge had risen at 5 o'clock in the morning and made the journey with a group of kids in his black and yellow van in order to arrive on time for the start of the BVB Soccer School.

Another positive was the presence of Dede, who had travelled from his hometown of Belo Horizonte especially for the event, along with fellow former BVB stars Marcio Amoroso and Ewerthon – who both became German champions with Borussia Dortmund in 2002. For the three ex-players, it was a special occasion to pull on the jersey in their home country and train with the kids.

Events continued into the evening too. BVB employees, Dede and an Evonik team joined members of the Borussia Dortmund Brasil fan club to watch the Bundesliga match between 1. FC Köln and Borussia Dortmund.

To round off their trip, the visitors from Dortmund visited the largest German school in Brazil, the Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro, whose alumni include the Queen of Sweden. Two training sessions with 30 kids were held in the morning, with the Borussia Dortmund team also presenting the club's philosophy to the school children. In the evening, it was followed by a presentation for the teachers.

The Black & Yellow contingent boarded the return flight for Germany with fond memories of hair-raising moments, happy young faces and plenty of enthusiasm for BVB. Our Soccer School is known for travelling all over the globe, but it's in Brazil that one feels the "truest" love...
