"I'm in pain all over my body. That shows you what a hard-fought victory it was", said Roman Bürki after getting the win in Gladbach, something he helped secure with numerous strong saves. Goalscorer Marco Reus spoke candidly to sky: "I didn't get a clean contact with the ball when I scored, I actually wanted to shoot further to the left."

Roman Bürki: "I'm in pain all over my body. That shows you what a hard-fought victory it was. But that's a part of the game. It was difficult to actually play any football on this turf. Honestly speaking, I have never seen such a pitch before, and it was very hard to play on such a surface. That's why we turned to long balls so often. We won quite a few "second balls" in the first half, but we hardly won any in the second. I am training every day and am always trying to improve. I know that things won't always go well, I understand that. I'm happy today that everything worked out. It's three important points for us. Now we go into the game against Bergamo with plenty of self-confidence."

Marco Reus: "I didn't get a clean contact with the ball when I scored: I actually wanted to shoot further to the left to be completely honest about that. Of course it's great that it went in nevertheless. Overall, it was a difficult game. Gladbach were actually much better than us in the second half, and they had the better chances. At that point, it was a pure battle, luckily with a better outcome for us. We still have loads of work to do, but these wins are very important for us right now. They have allowed us to consolidate our position towards the top of the table."

"Ultimately, we have got to take a good look at ourselves"

Yann Sommer (Borussia M’gladbach goalkeeper): "Roman Bürki made a couple of good saves of course. Ultimately, we have got to take a good look at ourselves. We created lots of chances for ourselves, but were unable to get the rewards for that." (djg)
