A new Borussia Dortmund record was set today as Peter Stöger and his coaching staff became the first new management team at the club to avoid defeat in each of their first eight BVB league games. And Roman Bürki set a new Bundesliga record for the season.

Fireworks: The shot count ended up being 28-8 in favour of Mönchengladbach, who had more shots than they have in any match since October 2010. The last time BVB faced so many shots from an opposing team was in April 2009. In addition, Roman Bürki set a new Bundesliga record for the season by making 11 saves in one game.

Flying start: None of the previous 39 Borussia Dortmund coaches in the Bundesliga have gone more than seven league games unbeaten. Previous record-holders Peter Bosz and Thomas Tuchel both tasted defeat in their eighth match. In the Bundesliga there have been five victories and three draws under Peter Stöger.

Winning run: Dortmund have won their last four competitive matches. Even Peter Bosz, despite his excellent start, didn't manage that. Under Peter Stöger, BVB have lost only one of their last ten competitive matches (DFB Cup tie against FC Bayern),

Favourite foes: Dortmund have won their last six Bundesliga matches against Mönchengladbach. Neither team has ever won so many consecutive league games against the other before.

Reunited: Marco Reus, Mario Götze and Andre Schürrle all played together for the first time since 29 January 2017 (in Mainz). The trio have never started together before for BVB, and have only done so once for Germany (in September 2014). All three players were involved in the winning goal.

Scoring touch: Marco Reus found the net for the first time in 274 days (brace against Bremen on 20 May 2017). He has now scored six goals in nine Bundesliga games against his former club Mönchengladbach.

Rock at the back: Sokratis won 88 percent of his challenges (14 of 16).

All-important opener: Borussia Dortmund have not lost a Bundesliga game in which they have been ahead at half-time since December 2015.
