Peter Stöger was unequivocal after BVB drew 0-0 away at FC Salzburg and consequently exited the UEFA Europa League: "There are two things you can do. One is to play using the technical quality at your disposal. If that's not happening for you, then there is plan B, namely, hard work and challenging for the ball. We did not do the first, nor did we take up the second when required." Here follow the managers' reactions.

Peter Stöger: "The first half was appalling. We had not adjusted ourselves to that which awaited us in the least. It was clear that Salzburg were going to be aggressive and were not going to let us have much time on the ball. If you then play so ponderously, then you shouldn't be surprised that you're not getting any chances. We made life difficult for ourselves. Salzburg go through deservedly after the two matches. Marco Rose: "We are proud of our performance across the two legs of the tie. We worked hard to earn the right to go through." (cr)
