André Schürrle was angry with the performance shown against FC Salzburg as he spoke into the Sport1 microphone candidly: "We were missing the required courage and energy to really turn things around."

"We were determined to win the game, but at no time did we put into practice what is required to win such a match", said Schürrle after the 0-0 draw in Salzburg, and added: "We were too slow to the challenge, and didn't create any chances on goal for ourselves. We showed too little spirit and too little energy. You can't win any games like that."

He continued: "We regularly talk about quality, but it doesn't make any difference if you don't play in a way that allows you to demonstrate your quality. Your readiness to fight is always the most important thing, and we weren't up for the fight in either game. We let them take the fight out of us. We can be thankful today that we have a goalkeeper who kept us in the match until the very end. We were missing the required courage and energy to really turn things around." (cr)
