Coach Peter Stöger was satisfied with the performance of his team in the 1-0 win over Hannover 96 and singled out Mario Götze, among others, for praise at his press conference.

Peter Stöger on the balance of play:
"We deservedly won the match. It was a good reaction after being eliminated from Europe. The team showed from the beginning that they wanted to win the match. There were lots of positive aspects today: lots of attacking momentum, runs in behind, attempts to get shots away. The team rose to the situation. Lots of the things that we wanted to see were present today. We're very satisfied."

...on the question about whether his team has a psychological problem, having recently made bright starts in their matches with Augsburg, Frankfurt and Hannover before subsequently tailing off:
"I believe we still managed to have a lot of scoring chances. It's clear that the opponent has more of the play when we're ahead. When possible, we completely prevented that from happening in the first half with the manner in which we played. It's not so easy to implement that following a European match, having travelled away and only had a short break. I was impressed with what we produced in the first half. A second goal would have made it easier for us. I saw a decent performance from my team over the course of 90 minutes."

...on Mario Götze's performance:
"Today we were very satisfied! Even if someone – much like many other players on Thursday – has an off-day, that doesn't mean that he'll be immediately banished to the stands!"

...on Mo Dahoud's positive development:
"We reassured him and told him that we know the quality he has. He now needs to continue to work on his potential and to refine his game. I think he's making very good progress."

...on the substitution of Ömer Toprak at the interval:
"I'm not sure exactly what's wrong with him. It's a muscular problem."
